Estonia, too good to leave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


On the way north from the ferry, we followed roads that were close to the waterside, i.e. the Baltic Sea. This was convenient because we needed to move quickly via modern roads. But to experience the wilder parts of the Baltic countries, it's advantageous to head towards the land side, that is, the eastern land towards Russia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have spent some great days in Estonia and are deeply impressed by their nature and that their cities don't have large amounts of graffiti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Out east, we enjoy the freedom to camp away from private property.
It's a mix of old Eastern Bloc country, where old stables in the countryside are slowly collapsing. And then the new Estonia, where independence and the joy of it allows people to shape their own lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the last 35+ years they have worked hard to create their own lives, in the bigger cities they have nice new cars, modern architecture that is produced and built merrily. The amount of heavy equipment and agricultural machinery dealers surprises us. Business is really booming here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With increased prosperity and pride comes a willingness to show off the country at its best - a side we encounter many times on the trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We drive along random roads that point south. If there is an attraction sign pointing off to the side - it's worth taking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A beautiful wooden bridge has been rebuilt over the river.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ski resorts and old Catholic churches are passed. People are completely relaxed about us pulling out the camera and drone. They take it quite calmly, it's not exactly because tourists overrun these areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We spend some time on the route and Sus starts looking for accommodation. A few possible candidates are presented, depending on how far we want to keep travelling and how many unexpected stops require further investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We end up at a campsite that is quite informal and relaxed. Shortly after we set up camp, the owner and his wife come round and offer everyone a glass of local brandy - it's the Estonian national holiday.
It's a cosy place, in addition to regular motorhomes, there are also long-distance motorcyclists with a sidecar and a Land Rover converted with a raised roof and practical interior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Originally, we were only supposed to have one night, but when we realised how beautiful the area is - we had to adjust our plans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the campsite owner remarked. When people come here, they realise you're not in a hurry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Estonia - is too good to leave.<\/strong><\/em>
