Southern Europe

Europa Tour 2012, Episode 4

We say goodbye to Germany and hello to the mini-state of Luxembourg.

With its area of 2586 square kilometers and population of around 500,000, it must be possible to come across the cyclists Andy and Fränk Schleck.

Although we keep a lookout in the hilly landscape, they are not in sight.

We enter Luxembourg City itself, where part of the EU's institutions are located.

It is a beautiful city, with an international touch in terms of its institutions.

We drive out into the countryside again and find a campsite.

There is wifi at the main house, so we can just check the world situation.

After dinner, we will just have a look around the area. Behind the campsite is a field where some very curious cows roam. They keep following us – so in the end we have to stand and pat them a bit.

Unfortunately we can't stay that long in Luxembourg as we also have to go to Le Mans. It's otherwise wonderful here.

We continue towards France.

Agriculture is really big in France. We try to rush forward to the length of one field. About 2 km with the same crop. It must be Europe's pantry.

It is incredibly pleasant to drive through the small villages in France. However, you just have to remember that they have a duty to give way to the right, and actually drive according to it.

We have probably ended up in a few situations where we have been cursed as tourists. In a small village, we stop at the streetcar to check the front wheel bearing. There have been a few problems with it, so Johnny wants to check that everything is ok.

When we are messing with the car we can hear someone laughing. Completely uninhibited - honestly... how rude are you allowed to be?

We just have to check the car.

The laughter continues and we start looking around to see where people are standing and laughing.

We can't see anyone - strange. The laughter continues.

In the end, we discover that it is some giant toads in the street, which sound vaguely like a person laughing.

We start laughing. We're not that much of a joke anyway. - Phew.

As a pure cliché, French people wander around in the morning with a few baguettes under their arms.

Well - well, custom escort or land plane.

Johnny proudly returns with French baguettes and cakes.

Yum.

We have now reached Le Mans and drive past the famous race track. It's already full of people.

Inside the city itself, there are also many people and not really any parking space, so we drive a little out of the city again and stop at the train station.

With all the people in town, it's not really a place to take Bertil. He is small, can quickly be overlooked in a crowd and stepped on.

Johnny sacrifices himself and stays back in the car with Bertil, while Sus goes into the driver's parade and looks for Helsingør Girl Guard - where Anne and Sofie are there.

There is a little way to go, but Sus arrives in time. There comes the girls' guard marching. Tom Kristensen had even marched with them a bit of the way, they said.

It's now nice to greet the crazy kids and even if they don't want to admit it, it's probably mutual.

After greeting Anne and Sofie, we just have to go home.

We reach Paris at night in pouring rain. The road striping is hard to see and there is also road work.

We are a little under pressure, but escape alive through Paris, a richer experience.

After that, it goes quietly back to Denmark.
